North Central Area Credit Union offers a scholarship program to 2nd year college students. NCACU feels strongly about helping their members achieve their educational goals to improve the quality of their life and community. Second year students do not have many opportunities to receive scholarships or grants. NCACU believes that after a student completes one year of education and continues earning their degree, they have earned our support and trust to complete their educational goals. Both Students displayed exceptional scores and are actively volunteering at their schools and community.
This year we have two 2010 Scholarship Recipients. Our first recipient is Courtney Meyer from Prudenville and is working toward her PhD in Development Economics. Courtney is a $1,500 NCACU Scholarship Winner

Our second recipient is Peter Tomasek from Roscommon who is working on his Juris Doctorate. Peter was awarded a $500 scholarship.

North Central Area Credit Union is committed to support community academic education. We feel strongly about helping our members achieve their educational goals to improve the quality of life at home and in the community. We are providing the opportunity for second year students to earn scholarships after completing their first year and up to four years of education. There is very few opportunities for scholarships at these education levels. NCACU believes that after a student completes one year of education and continues earning their degree, they have earned our support and trust to complete their education.
Please read the following application information carefully and return the required documents before June 16th, 2010.
How to Apply
North Central Area Credit Union has an easy application process. Fill the application out completely and follow all instructions
- Submit a completed application with signature to qualify for the scholarship program. (Download the Application)
- Provide a copy of a valid college transcript with 24 credit hours completed.
- Write a 100 to 250 word essay on why you have chosen your career field.
- Provide three letters of recommendation
to your local branch or mail it to:

Who is Eligible?
You are eligible to apply for a NCACU Scholarship…
- If you are a member in good standing.
- If you have completed 24 credit hours of college level courses.
- If you plan to continue your education to achieve a degree at a accredited two or four year college or vocational-technical school.
- If you can provide a record of social involvement in the community and extra curricular activities.
Scholarship recipients are eligible to re-apply up to three subsequent years. New applications must be completed each year and submitted to the scholarship committee.
How are Recipients Selected?
The North Central Area Credit Union Scholarship Committee is made up of a offical family members and one selected employee. Scholarships are awarded to applicants who demonstrate academic excellence, citizenship, community and school involvement and are NCACU members in good standing. Only complete applications and documentation will be considered. All applications must be signed and completed by the student applicant. The scholarship committee reserves the right to request a personal interview.
HowMuch are theAwards and how do I qualify?
NCACU scholarship amount is one $500 award per each location in Grayling, Houghton Lake, Roscommon and Standish. The applicants qualify based on an average over all score of at least 75% or higher of all applicants that apply during that current year. If there are no applicants that qualify with a 75% or higher in one given location, there will be no award given to that location area during that year. An additional $1000 is awarded to the highest score of all applicants. The scoring system is a organized point evaluation based on academics, community and school involvement, word essay and letters of recommendation.
