NCACU annually offers a scholarship to members who are working on their college degree or vocational-technical school certificate. NCACU will award scholarship(s) to member(s) in good standing who have completed at least 24 credit hours in their program and are actively involved in community service through volunteer opportunities.
The Scholarship Window Is Now Closed. The application window will re-open September 1- October 31 each year.
The 2024 Winners Were:
Avery Smitz – Roscommon Branch – Avery is a student at Northwood University in Midland and is working on her Bachelor of Administration in Finance. She will graduate in May 2025 and plans to get her MBA in May 2026. She plans to become a Financial Advisor. Avery volunteers not just in her community but also in surrounding areas, helping with organizations such as Safe Harbor in Traverse City, Roscommon’s Christmas in the Village, and youth softball clinics through Northwood University.
Gabrielle Helinski – Grayling Branch – Gabby is a student at Northwood University in Midland and is working on a double Major in Merchandising, Marketing and Entrepreneurship with plans to graduate in 2027. Gabby has used her leadership skills to help organize and volunteer where needed while she attends college. She has participated in GO MAD (go make a difference day) at Northwood University, Spring Cleanup day for the local child advocacy center in Midland, is a Registered Student Organizer of Special Olympics, and gives her time to the Midland County Animal Shelter.
Joslyn Fairbanks – Roscommon Branch – Joslyn is a student at the University of Michigan working on her Bachelor of Science in Movement Science, with plans to graduate in May 2027. Joslyn has volunteered in the Roscommon community helping at the River House Shelter, elementary schools and local nursing homes. She was the creator of “Mail a Smile Project” which mailed homemade cards to those who might be struggling and lonely during the holidays. There were over 9,000 cards sent to 76 senior care facilities in 3 years.
