The Season of Giving

A message from Mark Richter, President & CEO

Thank you for being a member of NCACU. Like you, we believe in giving back to our communities and supporting the charities closest to our hearts. As part of our core values, NCACU supports three significant community causes each year in our branches, and we ask for our members’ support.

Our Season of Giving begins with the promotion of our Grand Raffle. This fundraiser supports credit unions statewide with governmental affairs and assists with their legal initiatives. The bonus is that by participating, you can win great prizes!

Our second fundraiser is Superhero September. Here, we collect money to support the children and families who use our local Children’s Assessment Centers. This year, we’re supporting three centers: the Northern Michigan Children’s Assessment Center (Roscommon and Crawford Counties), CAN Council (Arenac County), and Kent County CAC (Grandville). Children who come to these centers have been traumatized and are seeking care. Families can also turn to the centers for legal assistance and social and economic support while they seek prosecution of perpetrators.

Our support is vital to these community centers. If you’d like to help, consider donating at one of our branches, participating in the Super Main Event, or running or walking in our virtual 5K. Any donation is welcome, and our combined dollars make a huge difference! Last year, we raised more than $17,000, and your donation became part of a bigger mission.

The final fundraiser comes in November with “Hoarding for the Holidays.” During this event, we raise funds for local food pantries so they can stock up on supplies before the holidays. We aim to raise $1,000 per branch, enabling us to sponsor the equivalent of a food truck.

Only with your assistance can we reach our goals. You’re welcome to donate, whether $1, $5, or any amount in the branch. Members are invited to put their name on an acorn or squirrel as we Hoard for the Holidays!

Unique to credit unions is our people-helping-people philosophy, and we’re proud of our unified efforts. Watch our social media pages for our progress. You’ll feel good knowing you’ve made a difference!
