Community Empowerment

This Month’s Highlights at NCACU:

Join us as we celebrate our commitment to empowering our communities. At NCACU, we’re all about supporting local businesses, promoting healthy lifestyles, and ensuring fun for everyone.

October is a special month for North Central Area Credit Union. We believe in giving back and supporting those around us, and this month, we’re excited to highlight a few of the initiatives we’re involved in. From youth financial literacy to acts of kindness and community engagement, here’s what NCACU has planned for October.

Youth Initiatives: Student-Run Credit Union Branches

We’re excited to announce the reopening of our student-run credit union branches at Roscommon and Grayling Elementary Schools this October! These branches are a vital part of our mission to promote financial literacy. Through hands-on experience, students gain valuable insights into managing money, the importance of saving, and the daily operations of a credit union. This initiative not only equips them with essential life skills but also empowers the next generation to make informed financial decisions. By actively participating in actual credit union operations, students are getting a head start on building financial knowledge that will benefit them well into adulthood.

CU Kind Day: People Helping People (October 14, 2024)

On Monday, October 14th, NCACU will participate in CU Kind Day, an event centered around the credit union philosophy of “People Helping People.” Teams of employees from each branch will head out into the community to devote their time and talents to local charities and organizations.

NCACU employees are helping out across our communities, whether volunteering at a shelter, helping a local food bank, or performing random acts of kindness.

Credit Union Day: Celebrating Our Roots (October 17, 2024)

Join us on Thursday, October 17th, for International Credit Union Day—a celebration of the rich history and cooperative spirit that credit unions embody worldwide. Stop by any of our branches for refreshments and goodies, and be sure to enter our “Umbrella Man” drawing, running from October 14th to the 18th. Every member who visits will have a chance to win an exciting prize package! Each winner will receive a unique Umbrella Man gift, a tribute to the original logo of the U.S. credit union movement, and a symbol of NCACU’s commitment to covering all financial needs.

We’re also partnering with three local Chambers of Commerce for an After-Hours Event on the evening of October 17th at the Cut River Grille in Roscommon. This gathering will bring together local businesses and community leaders to celebrate the credit union philosophy and explore opportunities for collaboration.

Scholarship Opportunities: Supporting Adult Learners

From now until October 31st, NCACU is accepting applications for our Adult Learner Scholarships. These scholarships are designed to help adults returning to school or seeking further education. If you or someone you know is a member of NCACU and has completed at least 24 credit hours toward their degree, now is the perfect time to apply! We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to invest in your future.
